ABOUT US
Oconee Education Group is a nonprofit organization that looks to bring an affordable secular homeschooling option to Upstate, SC. We currently have two groups in the Upstate area, one in Walhalla, SC (Our Oconee County group) and one in Pendleton, SC (Our Anderson County group). Our classes are free, and our organization offers a variety of resources to all active members, including a curriculum library, Epic Reading school accounts, Minecraft education discounts, and OEG email addresses through Microsoft Office.
We focus on extracurricular classes in a mixed-age group setting. Our classes are appropriate for children K through 8th grade. Still, everyone is welcome to attend, including high schoolers and younger siblings.
Candace Richardson
"My name is Candace, and I live in the Oconee area with my husband and three little boys. Before deciding to homeschool my boys, I worked as a preschool teacher, where I taught children ages 2 through 4. I've also spent a lot of time working with special needs children as a children's therapist, specializing in autism and behavioral issues. Currently, I homeschool full time and am working toward my bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone, and I hope we can create a strong community for homeschooling families in our area."
Alanna Banks
While in college, I interned in the public school classroom with special education, mainstream, and gifted classes. I then switched my major to a more broad degree and worked with families and children in various settings before staying home with my own.
I'm super passionate about all things children and education, so heyyyyy. But truly, I'm super excited to have the opportunity to help grow this community and looking forward to planning some great things for this year!"
